Siren Cloud

A product in Siren is Siren’s own record of something you sell, with the collaborators who own it. Track > Products lists them, from Stripe, Shopify, and connected WordPress stores. A product owner earns when their product sells, as Assign Product Owners explains. Stripe and Shopify products get their owners only here.

The screen is for Admins, and it needs the Essentials, Plus, or Pro plan. It shows in the sidebar once a connected store can provide products, or once products exist. A Platform Manager doesn’t see it.

Products and listings

Each of your stores keeps its own records of what it sells. Siren keeps product records of its own and ties each store’s record to one of them. Siren’s record holds the name you know the product by and the people who own it. Prices and stock stay in your stores.

A listing is one store’s own record of a product: the product in one integration at one Property, under that store’s ID for it. A Stripe product is a listing, and so is a Shopify product or a WooCommerce product on a connected site. The “Sold on” card on a product’s page shows its listings, with each store’s name, SKU, and ID for the product.

When a store sends a product Siren hasn’t seen, Siren creates a new product with that one listing. So a course you sell through both Stripe and Shopify starts out as two products in Siren. Siren never joins them on its own, since two products with the same name aren’t always the same thing.

When a store removes a product, its listing stays on the Siren product, marked as removed, so the sales made through it and the product’s owners stay too.

Why you merge products

Merging tells Siren that two or more products are the same thing. The product you keep takes every listing and every sale, so it shows once on the list, with one set of owners who earn whichever store makes the sale. Until you merge, each store’s product has its own owners, and an owner you set on the Stripe product earns nothing as its owner when the same course sells on Shopify.

Siren suggests a merge when products at different stores share a SKU, which is a strong sign, or a name, which is a weaker one. It never suggests two products from the same store, so a course and its bundle stay apart. If a merge turns out wrong, split the listing off again.

Owners belong to the product

Siren links owners to the product, not to a listing. Link a collaborator once and they earn on every store that sells it. A product can have up to 10 owners, and only active owners earn.

Set up a product’s owners

1

Find the product

Open Track > Products and search by product name, SKU, or store ID.

2

Merge any copies from other stores

If the row shows "Possible match", open the product. In the "Possible matches" card, click "Merge" when the other product is the same thing, or "Not the same" when it isn't. Merging first means you set the owners once.

3

Link the owners

In the "Owners" card, click "Link to collaborator", tick the collaborators you want, and click "Add". Siren saves the owners straight away.

4

Check the stores

The "Sold on" card should list every store that sells the product.

The sections below cover each part of the screen in more detail.

Read the list

Each row is one product:

  • Product is its name, with a “Possible match” badge when Siren thinks another product is the same one.
  • Sold on shows a badge for each store that sells it, such as “WooCommerce · Main store”, or “Not sold anywhere now”.
  • Owners lists the collaborators who own it, or “No owners”.

Search by product name, SKU, or store ID. The screen calls each Property a store, so the “All stores” menu narrows the list to one Property, and “All integrations” to one platform. Tick “Possible matches” to see products with a suggested match. “Sold now” is ticked to start with, so products no store sells right now stay hidden until you untick it. The “Activity” button shows changes to all products.

Each Property’s page has a “Products” card with the first five products it sells and their owners. Its “View all” button opens this screen for that Property.

Set owners

Click a product to open it. Its “Owners” card has “Link to collaborator”, which lists every collaborator in your organization with their status. Pick up to 10 owners in all. Only active owners earn. The X beside an owner unlinks them after you confirm. Owners earn on every store that sells the product, and a change applies to sales from then on.

You can also start from the collaborator. Their page has a “Products” card, where “Link to a product” lists products with the number of owners each already has, and “Unlink” on a row takes them off that product.

Add or rename a product

Products usually arrive when a store saves or sells them. To set owners before a store sends a product, click “Add product” and fill in the “Store”, the “Integration”, the “Product ID at the store”, and the “Name”. The store must run that integration.

“Rename” on the product page changes the name Siren shows. Each store keeps its own name.

Merge the same product from several stores

When two stores sell a product with the same SKU or the same name, both show “Possible match”. On the product page, the “Possible matches” card offers “Merge” and “Not the same”. “Not the same” stops Siren suggesting that pair again. Siren never merges on its own.

You can also merge by hand. Click “Merge with…” on the product page and pick the other product, or tick at least two rows on the list and click “Merge”. You can merge up to 20 at a time. The dialog asks which product to keep, and which name to use when the names differ. Every store listing and sale moves to the product you keep.

When the products have different owners, the dialog asks who owns the merged product:

  • “Everyone who owns any of them owns the merged product”. This choice is offered only while the owners come to 10 or fewer.
  • “Keep only the owners of the product you keep”.

Split a listing off

To undo a merge, open the product and click “Split off” on a store’s row in the “Sold on” card. The button shows when the product has more than one store listing, counting any listing a store has removed. The listing becomes a product of its own, with the same owners and the sales made through it.
